What does IRC do?

IRC is a consultancy service provided by Dr Derek Manson-Smith. I carry out research and analysis, and monitoring and evaluation on a wide range of subjects, including information and advice, access to personal information, consumer rights, planning, economic development, and public and legal administration, for clients in local and central government, non-governmental organisations and the private sector.

I also write guidance in plain language for lay people on the Scottish legal system, access to personal information and individuals' rights and responsibilities, and provide a technical editing service.

My uniqueness relies on my information resourcing and reporting skills - my ability to muster, analyse and draw conclusions from a wide range of information and subject areas. See Services for examples of work.
